CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Kids in the New River Valley got creative in a LEGO Home Building Contest last week.

From April 9-10, children aged four to 17 took part in the fun by submitting their best custom home creations.

More than 30 kids participated in the contest for the chance to win. The New River Valley Home Builders Association judged the entries based on the overall design, the best use of LEGO elements and the “cool factor” or overall creativity and originality.

After the creations were judged, ‘Best in Show’ winners were divided into three age groups. A ‘People’s Choice’ award was also given, which allowed attendees at the NRV Home Expo to vote for their favorite.

The winners of the contest include:

  • Best in Show, ages 4-6: 5-year-old Malachi
  • Best in Show, ages 7-10: 10-year-old Bricen
  • Best in Show, ages 11-16: 13-year-old Luke
  • People’s Choice Winner: 13-year-old Luke

Each age group winner and the people’s choice winner received a custom-made medal and a $50 gift card.
