Man charged with second-degree murder of ex-wife in Rocky Mount shooting
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – The man that police said shot and killed his ex-wife in Rocky Mount on Thursday has been charged with second-degree murder, according to Franklin County court documents.
Authorities said that officers received several calls for a shooting on Circle Drive just before 3:30 p.m. When they arrived, they said they found two women who had been shot.

Witnesses told authorities that a man, identified as 61-year-old Timothy Walton, sped away from the scene in a brown/gold-colored car.
First responders pronounced Larether Patterson dead at the scene. Court documents identified Patterson as Walton’s ex-wife.
The second vicitm was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Walton is charged with second-degree murder and firearm possession by a convicted felon.
