Man shot by father in Pulaski County shooting, police say

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. – Authorities are investigating after a man told officers was shot by his father in Pulaski County over the weekend.

On Sunday, Pulaski County deputies responded to the 6000 block of Wilderness Road after a man called and said he was shot by his father.

Once deputies arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the arm and he was taken away from the scene to receive medical attention.

Authorities said the victim’s father, Dennis Gibas, was inside the home and wouldn’t come out. A negotiator was able to convince Gibas to surrender and he was placed under arrest without incident.

Gibas has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm inside a home.
