New restaurant ‘hatches’ in downtown Roanoke’s City Market building

The Hatch will offer fried chicken sandwiches and what they call, ‘southern food done right’

ROANOKE, Va, – A new restaurant is “hatching” in downtown Roanoke in a corner spot that’s been vacant for over a year.

The Hatch will now be nested in Roanoke’s City Market building.

“The concept just came together. We’ve always loved chicken sandwiches, everybody loves Chick-Fil-A and stuff like that,” said owner, Jo Jo Soprano.

It’s the latest addition to the Parry Restaurant Group, which also owns local favorites like Beamer’s 25 and Clutch Smoked Meats.

“We are always looking for new locations to expand the business. We did talk about for a year now looking at this space. Of course in the middle of COVID is when it became available so we were a little hesitant at first but as time progressed and we could see things were coming back to normal then we seriously pursued it,” said Soprano.

Soprano “hatched” the plan in 2021 when he realized the demand for chicken sandwiches and what they call, “southern food done right.”

“It’s a bunch of southern style food: Mac n cheese, fried cauliflower and eggplant, corn on the cob, all sorts of good stuff like that. Our chicken sandwiches range, we have something for everybody. Most of them do have fried chicken but you can always sub it out for grilled chicken,” he said.

The Hatch will open Wednesday, June 8 at 11 a.m.
