Driver hospitalized with minor injuries after tractor-trailer catches fire in Rockbridge County

The incident closed all eastbound and westbound lanes

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – A tractor-trailer driver is in the hospital after the camp of the truck caught fire on VA-56 eastbound near US-11, according to the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say they were called to the scene at about 1 a.m. for the incident.

We’re told the driver has minor injuries and was taken to Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital for evaluation.

While all eastbound and westbound lanes are closed at this time due to cleanup, officers say they anticipate roads being opened soon.

According to authorities, the driver was not carrying any hazardous materials and they are unsure of what may have caused the fire.
