Hurricane Ian is expected to bring heavy rain and high winds to Southwest and Central Virginia.

Canceled events include:

  • ‘Get Downtown’ Lynchburg
  • October’s First Saturday Outing
  • ‘Day at The Point’ Fall Festival
  • NRV Heart Walk
  • Bluegrass Quartet Concert for ‘First Saturday’ in Vinton

Postponed events include:

  • Bedford Homefront Festival
  • Brett Young concert in Elmwood Park

Ashley Kerner of the Downtown Lynchburg Association says Get Downtown will not be rescheduled.

“While we wish we could simply reschedule, we are not able to do so,” said Kerner. “This event takes many months of planning and preparation, as well as the coordination of hundreds of individuals, companies, and organizations. With 180 participating vendors, we cannot expect each of them to save a second date in case of rain.”

In addition, the Elmwood Park concert featuring Brett Young will be rescheduled, downtown Roanoke officials announced Friday.
