Fire at Lynchburg Shell gas station leaves more than $75,000 in damages

LYNCHBURG, Va.UPDATE

A fire at a Lynchburg gas station has left more than $75,000 in damages, according to the Lynchburg Fire Department.

At about 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov.2), authorities were called to the Stop In Shell gas station on 7719 Timberlake Road.

Once on scene, crews saw heavy black smoke coming from the building.

Authorities told 10 News that crews were able to get the fire under control within about 30 minutes, and it took another hour to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

Luckily, the gas station was closed at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.

The Fire Marshal’s office says the fire was accidental and caused by a malfunction between a wall outlet and an appliance.

In all, four engines, two ladder trucks, two EMS units and the Technical Rescue truck responded, spending three hours on the scene, according to the fire department.

Crews responded to a fire at a Lynchburg gas station Wednesday night (Nov. 2), and fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to the Lynchburg Fire Department.

The fire happened at Shell on 7719 Timberlake Road, and as of 11:40 p.m., crews were still on scene.

Officials told 10 News that the building was heavily damaged in the fire.

At this time, the Fire Marshal’s Office is still searching for a cause.
