Blue Ridge Marathon returns to Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Organizers with the Blue Ridge Marathon are looking to fill several paid positions for the big race.

The roles will come with several perks, which include:

  • Modest race day pay
  • Staff apparel
  • Dinner with the team

Here’s a look at the available positions and what the role will entail:

PositionDescription
Zone Captain- Hours: 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. with five hours of advanced prep
- Manage five areas of the course
- Distribute aid station supplies
- Make sure volunteers are in place and know what they’re responsible for
- Help with the breakdown of your zone
- Help with cleanup
Double Marathon Lead- Hours: Midnight- 8 a.m. with about 3-5 hours of advanced prep
- Lead the Double Marathon Graveyard shift volunteers
- Start the Double Marathon runners during their first lap
- Coordinate the first lap of the double marathon

Volunteers are also needed for the event.
