64-year-old woman dead after Bedford County crash

The 65-year-old driver was also injured in the crash, police say


BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating a deadly crash that happened on Wednesday in Bedford County.

Authorities say the single-vehicle crash happened on March 22 at 12:40 p.m. on Route 460, just west of Heightview Drive in Bedford County.

According to state police, a 2015 Jeep Latitude was traveling east on Route 460 at Heightview Drive when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Vicki Crews, 64, of Alta Vista was a passenger and was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where she later died, police said. We’re told she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 65-year-old woman, was also hurt in the crash and was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

There are no charges pending and the investigation is ongoing, according to VSP.
