AMHERST COUNTY, Va. – A 67-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting in Amherst County Sunday, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a 911 call came in for a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the Boxwood Farm area of Amherst County.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 67-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. We’re told deputies initiated life-saving measures until EMS arrived and the man was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Cynthia Hart, 62, of Amherst County was taken into custody at the scene, authorities said.
Hart has been charged with the following:
- Malicious wounding
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
Hart is being held at the Amherst County Adult Detention Center.
Deputies said this is an ongoing investigation.
