Authorities say the driver mistakenly accelerated their vehicle instead of braking

No one was hurt after a driver crashed into a store along Melrose Avenue on Tuesday, according to the Roanoke Police Department. (WSLS 10)

ROANOKE, Va. – There were no injuries reported after a driver crashed into a store along Melrose Avenue Tuesday morning, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

At about 11 a.m., a driver accidentally accelerated their vehicle rather than braking and crashed into the front of Grocery Brothers Mart, authorities said.

While the damages are not structural in nature, the building will be closed as it is now deemed unsafe, authorities said.

Roanoke Police told 10 News that the incident is considered a civil matter since it happened on private property. According to the police department, there will not be any charges placed against the driver.
