Applications open for Virginia Western’s Community College Access Program

ROANOKE, Va. – Making college possible — that’s Virginia Western Community College’s mission with the Community College Access Program.

The program that started 15 years ago, now has helped over 600 students attend Virginia Western for free.

CCAP is the largest promised program of any community college in the state, giving out more than $10 million in scholarships.

“We were seeing students who were seeing money as an obstacle to getting a career and staying in the community and our tuition is relatively cheap compared to four-year schools but even that was being an obstacle for students,” Carole Tarrant, the coordinator of development at VWCC Educational Foundation said.

The application for the community college access program opened this month and stays open until Feb. 1.
