59-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Pittsylvania Co.

PITTSYLVANIA CO., Va. – A man was killed in a head-on crash in Pittsylvania County on Friday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.

Police said it happened on Walkers Well Road, about one-tenth of a mile south of Cherrystone Lake Road at 11:15 a.m. when a 2001 Toyota Corolla crossed the centerline and hit a 1989 GMC 2500 head-on.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 59-year-old Vincent Adkins of Callands. He died at the scene, authorities said.

According to state police, the driver and passenger of the GMC weren’t hurt in the crash.
