BLACKSBURG, Va – Virginia Tech President Timothy Sands delivered the State of the University address this afternoon.
During the speech, Sands directly addressed concerns regarding recent executive orders impacting higher education.
“We will follow the law, but we’ll do so once we fully understand the directives and applications to Virginia Tech,” said Sands. “We do not yet have many of those answers, but we are collecting information and providing guidance where we can.”
The orders mainly focus on ending diversity, equity and inclusion programs at universities.
Sands also announced Virginia Tech plans to host a series of town halls about the potential changes. Dates and times for those events have not been announced yet.
