Disabled residents enjoy Valentines dance

ROANOKE, Va – Tonight, Roanoke County Parks and Rec hosted the thirty ninth annual Valentine’s Dinner Dance.

The dance allows disabled residents of the Roanoke area to have a night out and enjoy good food, good friends and good music.

“This is so much fun, this is the best night of my life. Having a good time,” said Elizabeth Allen, who attended the dance. “Let’s just go out there, just have fun and be who you really are.”

This year’s dance was held at the Hotel Roanoke.

Participants dressed to the theme in red, pink and white, tore up the dance floor, and even crowned a king and queen.

The dance started back in 1985 by Roanoke Parks and Rec Therapeutic Recreation, and began as a prom for those not invited to their schools dances.

The event has grown now to have over two hundred guests.
