A search is currently underway for an 80-year-old man reported missing in Albemarle County, according to the police department.
Lawrence Thomas was last seen between 5 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, walking to the mailbox at his home in the 7000 block of Secretary Sands Road in Charlottesville.

Thomas is described as a 5-foot-5-inch, 130-pound man, last seen wearing a green T-shirt and blue denim jeans.
Authorities have confirmed that Thomas has dementia, making his disappearance a serious threat to his health and safety.
