Gov. Youngkin, journalist Megyn Kelly to speak at Turning Point USA event at Virginia Tech

Kirk had been scheduled to speak at Virginia Tech before his assassination

Turning Point USA at Virginia Tech, a registered student organization, will hold an event honoring the late Charlie Kirk. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative activist, had been scheduled to speak at Virginia Tech before his assassination.

The event is set for Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Burruss Hall Auditorium. Governor Glenn Youngkin and journalist Megyn Kelly are expected to deliver remarks. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Virginia Tech anticipates a large turnout and will enforce strict security measures. These include no bags or cameras allowed, magnetometer screenings, and guidance from event staff, security personnel, and Virginia Tech police. Please note that Virginia law prohibits both open and concealed firearms on college campuses.

Campus operations will continue as usual on Wednesday. The Virginia Tech Police Department urges everyone to report any crime or suspicious activity immediately by calling 540-382-4343 or dialing 911. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online.

Additionally, the north side of Drillfield Drive, adjacent to Burruss Hall, will be closed to normal traffic starting at 3 p.m. and will remain closed until 9 p.m. Vehicles already parked in the area may exit, but no new parking will be allowed. A valid university parking permit is required to park on campus at all times. Attendees are encouraged to use the Perry Street Garage for parking. For a campus parking map, click here.
