ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke officials and the VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment announced Thursday that the Wells Fargo Tower Center and the Berglund Center will be illuminated blue from April 2 to April 9 to recognize Autism Acceptance Month.

The visual tribute is a collaboration with VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment, a local nonprofit that supports individuals with autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities. As prominent landmarks, the Tower and the Berglund Center serve as powerful beacons for VIA’s “Building Inclusive Communities” initiative.

Officials say that VIA serves approximately 120 students, adults and their families in Roanoke.

“Celebrating the people we serve during Autism Acceptance Month provides an opportunity to reflect on VIA’s decades of service and our impact in Roanoke. With our programs, services, and highly trained staff, we aim to inspire greater understanding and acceptance of autism throughout our communities,” says Zenith Barrett, Regional Advancement Officer for VIA.

Central to VIA’s philosophy is the unwavering principle that every person, regardless of ability, possesses inherent dignity and value.

To support this vision, VIA offers specialized day schools for children and adolescents whose needs exceed what can be met in a public school setting, as well as early intensive intervention programs for young children with autism and related neurodevelopmental disabilities.
