Virginia sees 1,084 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 73,527 statewide

There are now 1,992 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 73,527 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of July 15.

Wednesday’s total of 73,527 marks an increase from Tuesday’s total of 72,443 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,084 new coronavirus cases:

  • 144 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 136 new cases in Norfolk
  • 79 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 62 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 61 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 57 new cases in Prince William County
  • 46 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 44 new cases in Newport News
  • 33 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 24 new cases in Hampton
  • 22 new cases in Henrico County
  • 21 new cases in Suffolk and Alexandria
  • 18 new cases in Henry County
  • 17 new cases in Arlington County
  • 16 new cases in Richmond
  • 12 new cases in Pittsylvania County
  • 11 new cases in Nottoway County and Prince George County
  • 10 new cases in James City County, Stafford County, Petersburg and Danville
  • 9 new cases in Culpeper County
  • 8 new cases in Charlottesville and Carroll County
  • 7 new cases in Frederick County, Page County, Staunton and Lynchburg
  • 6 new cases in Spotsylvania County and Martinsville
  • 5 new cases in Albemarle County, Hanover County, Rockbridge County, Augusta County and Louisa County

  • 2 new cases in Lancaster County, Buchanan County, Orange County, Dinwiddie County, Williamsburg City, Caroline County, Colonial Heights, Montgomery County, Amelia County, Hopewell, Greensville County, Franklin City, Galax, Grayson County, Lexington, Nelson County, Amherst County and Manassas Park
  • 1 new case in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Franklin County, Wise County, Botetourt County, Campbell County, Tazewell County, Fredericksburg, King William County, King and Queen County, Westmoreland County, Washington County, Fauquier County, Greene County, Scott County, Smyth County, Alleghany County, Dickenson County, Falls Church, Northampton County, Middlesex County, Rappahannock County, Charles City County and King George County
  • Salem, Madison County and Richmond County have all decreased by one case

As of Wednesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 928,868 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
