Virginia War Memorial seeking photos of Vietnam War veterans from Virginia for upcoming exhibit

Veterans are asked to submit their digital photos by April 30

The Virginia War Memorial is requesting personal photos from Vietnam War veterans from Virginia for an upcoming exhibit.

50 Years Beyond: The Vietnam War Experience” aims to highlight the untold stories of veterans during their service while also featuring current professional portraits of those same veterans, 50 years later.

“We plan to feature photos of fifty Vietnam veterans from Virginia in the exhibit which will open January 27, 2023, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Peace Accords which officially ended the Vietnam War,” said Dr. Clay Mountcastle, director of the Virginia War Memorial. “These photos will be used alongside professional photo portraits of the selected veterans taken today.”

The exhibit is a collaborative effort involving the war memorial and award-winning photographer and US Navy veteran Laura Hatcher, who will be responsible for taking recent photos of selected veterans.

Veterans are asked to submit their digital photos in jpg, tiff or PDF formats here by April 30. Then the photos will be reviewed by staff.
