The program will provide states and localities with $6.4 billion in formula funding over five years.

Specifically, Virginia will receive $31.8 million in this fiscal year and is eligible to receive up to $165.7 million over those five years.

This funding will go toward expanding transportation options for families to help them save gas money.

This includes truck stop and port electrification systems, bus rapid transit corridors and dedicated bus lanes.

Under the program, states must develop carbon reduction strategies alongside Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
