BLACKSBURG, Va. - Cinergy Entertainment, a family-owned, Dallas-based cinema, will open at Blacksburg's First & Main shopping center, replacing the former Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grill.
The cinema will close for approximately 10 days to interview and rehire as much of the existing team members as possible, according to a statement provided to WSLS 10.
It will be Cinergy's first East Coast location. It currently has three locations in Texas - Midland, Odessa and Copperas.
Blacksburg APF Partners, the group that owns the shopping center, locked the doors to the Frank Theatres Tuesday morning and took legal action claiming the owner of the chain owed $450,000 in unpaid rent.
Cinergy, similar to the previous theater, is described as a one-stop shop for entertainment.
Its three current locations feature attractions including movies, video games and state-of-the-art bowling.
Cinergy also offers billiards, laser tag and a ropes course.
"Together, we will continue to develop this incredible cinema-anchored family entertainment center. Cinergy’s mission is “to synergize people with the magic of movies and amusement.” “We are excited to become a part of the extraordinary Blacksburg community and present our passion for magical guest service, movies and entertainment,” said Cinergy CEO Jeff Benson, in a statement provided to WSLS 10.
The cinema is expected to address concerns over tickets purchased by Frank Theatres customers before it was closed.
“Over the next few days, I am confident you will see Blacksburg Movie & Bowl begin to address the ongoing concerns of the community about pre-purchased tickets and events of which we have become aware in the past few days," said Nate Kiser of Chrysolite Management Group, LLC, which manages the First & Main Center. "Our goal is to provide a premium experience for every visitor, and we are committed to addressing the outstanding issues."
