Titans face tough schedule in 2017

Hidden Valley's schedule includes a pair of defending state champions

ROANOKE, Va. –  The Titans of coach Scott Weaver return after a 5-6 campaign that included another playoff berth for Hidden Valley  The Titans fell to Heritage in round one of the Virginia High School League playoffs by a mere 6 points.  They only return three starters on both sides of the ball, but one of those is star quarterback Jonah Fitzgerald.  Despite losing a huge senior class the Titans schedule remains more than challenging.  Hidden Valley's schedule includes  defending state champion Blacksburg and Salem in River Ridge district play. The Class 3A school will also face 5A Patrick Henry and 4A teams in William Byrd and Pulaski Co.

"We feel here at Hidden Valley we can compete with any 3A team around.  As you get into November and on, our schedule of playing Patrick Henry, playing William Byrd,  playing Salem and Pulaski County--all those teams. It really helps if you're fortunate off to advance on," Weaver said.

"Well, it definitely makes it a lot easier so we're used to that competition, that higher level of competition. When we get to the playoffs and play those good teams we're used to it, or it's even easier than the regular season," quarterback Jonah Fitzgerald said.

The Titans open the season Friday against Patrick Henry at Bogle field.
