Chris Jones to Coach Covington Football

COVINGTON (WSLS-10 SPORTS)- Former Franklin County Head Coach Chris Jones has accepted the head football coaching position at Covington High School.

Jones resigned from Franklin County after a six-year stint ending after the 2014 season.

The longtime area coach will also serve as assistant principal at the school.

Jones recorded three playoff victories in his first three seasons at Franklin County, the first three postseason wins in school history, and finished in Rocky Mount with a 36-30 overall record.

Prior to being coach of the Eagles,he led both Bath County and Heritage High to VHSL state championships.

Chris Jones carries a career record of 116-55 as a head football coach.
