Hokies’ Keonta Jenkins feeling comfortable in new role at linebacker

BLACKSBURG, Va. – There’s been a lot of shuffling of positions for Head Coach Brent Pry’s Hokies to cater to the vision of success. One of them being former safety Keonta Jenkins, who moved to linebacker this fall.

“Just seeing everything, slowing the game down, being able to read and react faster,” Jenkins said. “Back at safety, everything is right in front of you, but now closer to the ball, you have routes behind you, guards in front of you, slowing the game down.”

“It’s challenging but it’s way more fun. You’re closer to the ball so you’re closer to making plays, we have a lot of schemes and a lot of things to where you can make a lot of plays, be in a lot of windows, and make a lot of plays in the backfield, so that’s way more fun.”

The change seems to be a welcome shift for the junior from Jacksonville, FL.
