Alleghany’s Via runs to Week 5 honors

Moneta, Va. – Alleghany is in its final season before merging with Covington high, and the Mountaineers appear to be on a mission to go out with a ‘bang’. A case in point -- is senior running back Garrett Via. The Mountaineers back carried to load again Friday night in Moneta to the tune of 24 carries for 262 yards and five, yes five -- rushing touchdowns in a 39-13 win over Staunton River. Already the school record holder for yards in a game, Via led his team to fourth win in five tries in what is the Mountaineers farewell season.
