Court orders shorter sentence for 'Tiger King' Joe Exotic

A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that “Tiger King” Joe Exotic should get a shorter prison sentence for his role in a murder-for-hire plot and violating federal wildlife laws. Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, was sentenced in January 2020 to 22 years in federal prison after being convicted of trying to hire two different men to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin. A three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver found that the trial court wrongly treated those two convictions separately in calculating his prison term under sentencing guidelines.

US officials have seized 68 big cats from an animal park featured in the hit Netflix series "Tiger King". Lions, tigers, lion-tiger hybrids and a jaguar were taken from the Tiger King Park in Thackerville, Oklahoma, over concerns about the animals' care, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said. The animals belonged to Jeffrey Lowe and his wife Lauren, who starred in the Netflix series alongside Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin. The DOJ filed a civil complaint against the Lowes in November, which accused them of "recurring inhumane treatment and improper handling" of animals protected by the Endangered Species Act. The Tiger King Park was inspected three times since December 2020.

LOS ANGELES The saga of Joe Exotic is getting another Hollywood chapter, with Kate McKinnon starring as his rival in a limited TV series. The Saturday Night Live star will play Carole Baskin, who sought to shut down Joseph Maldonado-Passages for-profit breeding of big cats. The conflict became a pop culture sensation with Netflixs docuseries Tiger King. The series, ordered without a pilot episode, will be based on the Wondery podcast Joe Exotic, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said Tuesday. McKinnon also will be an executiver producer for the show with the working title of Joe Exotic, Maldonado-Passage's nickname. The Joe Exotic role has yet to be cast, NBCUniversal said.

Judge gives control of Joe Exotic's zoo to Carole Baskin

FILE - This undated file photo provided by the Santa Rose County Jail in Milton, Fla., shows Joseph Maldonado-Passage, also known as Joe Exotic. A federal judge in Oklahoma has awarded ownership of the zoo made famous in Netflix's Tiger King docuseries to Joe Exotic's rival, Carole Baskin. In a ruling Monday, U.S. District Judge Scott Palk granted control of the Oklahoma zoo that was previously run by Joseph Maldonado-Passage — also known as Joe Exotic — to Big Cat Rescue Corp. Baskin previously sued Maldonado-Passage for trademark and copyright infringements and won a $1 million civil judgment against him. Palk's judgment Monday found that ownership of the zoo was fraudulently transferred to Maldonado-Passage's mother in an attempt to avoid paying the judgment.

Finished ‘Tiger King’? 5 over-the-top things to watch next

Will anything ever compare to the antics of Joe Exotic, Doc Antle or Carole Baskin, of “Tiger King” fame? But we have to assume you’ve finished the show by now, which leads us to this next question: What will you watch next? The following five recommendations seem to be just as crazy as “Tiger King” -- not necessarily the same brand of crazy, but on par when it comes to unbelievability, like, “How can this possibly be real?”(OK, and from the sounds of it, No. 5 miiiiight be the same genre as “Tiger King.”)Anyway, to compile this list, we asked around and brainstormed ourselves. I’ll never get those two hours back.”Those weren’t exactly ringing endorsements, but we thought it was worth a mention.

The ‘Tiger King’ reunion special is out and it’s as bonkers as you’d hope

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the rumored “Tiger King” reunion episode has officially dropped, and it’s just as wacky and bonkers as you’d hope it would be. Most fans would probably want to hear from the “Tiger King” himself, Joe Exotic, but as we all know, Exotic is currently in jail, so that wasn’t really a possibility. It also seems that everyone in the cast has moved on from Exotic and thinks that he is a terrible human being. McCale also asked the cast members what celebrity they’d want to play them in a movie version of “Tiger King,” and it was pretty funny to hear their answers. Hop on Netflix and soak in every minute of the bonus episode of “Tiger King.”

We might be getting one more ‘Tiger King’ episode, according to show’s Jeff Lowe

One of the stars of the series, Jeff Lowe, made a personalized Cameo for Los Angeles Dodgers player Justin Turner, and Lowe announced that one more episode is still to come in the epic “Tiger King” saga. So our friend @christie_dish listened to the podcast, @HoldingKourt and after last weeks episode decided to send us this!!! 🚨BREAKING NEWS FOLKS🚨There will be 1 more episode of #TigerKing on@Netflix pic.twitter.com/YeRSIlDKTJ — Justin Turner (@redturn2) April 4, 2020“Netflix is adding one more episode. Netflix hasn’t actually confirmed a new episode of the show, but given its huge popularity while everyone is stuck inside quarantining, it makes sense for the streaming network to capitalize on the “Tiger King” phenomenon while it’s still hot. Oh, and if you still haven’t hunkered down on your couch to watch “Tiger King” yet, what are you waiting for?

Welp, now O.J. Simpson thinks Carole Baskin from ‘Tiger King’ killed her husband

Anyone who has watched Netflix’s new binge-worthy true crime series “Tiger King” is currently asking themselves the biggest questions the series left unanswered, including: Did Carole Baskin kill her husband? While none of us know the answer, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating (and making memes) about Baskin and her past. And now, as it turns out, one of America’s most notorious felons -- best known as a football star and for being tried in the death of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson -- is weighing in on the “Tiger King” mystery. Simpson, also known as “the Juice,” recently posted a video of himself discussing “Tiger King,” and he said he believes that not only did Baskin kill her husband, but she also fed him to her tigers, therefore making “tiger sashimi,” as Simpson references in the video. “We never close a cold case.”So what do you say, you cool cats and kittens?

Rejoice: Kate McKinnon will play Carole Baskin in TV show, reports say

Variety reports that there is a limited series being made about the big cat lovers, which is based off a podcast called “Joe Exotic," and it will star “SNL’s" Kate McKinnon as Baskin herself. McKinnon signed up to play Baskin in the fall, long before the masses knew anything of the epic feud between Exotic and Baskin, according to the report. Since we have McKinnon cast, the next obvious question is what actors should play the other colorful characters from “Tiger King,” such as Exotic or Doc Antle. Matthew McConaughey comes to mind, especially if you’ve seen him in “Dallas Buyers Club.”Danny McBride, who is known for playing trashy characters, would also nail Exotic. As for who should play Antle, who is equally as zany as Exotic, he’d have to be played by Will Ferrell.

Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’ is essential quarantine viewing

We all know that Netflix has hundreds of movies and TV shows for us to watch, but there’s a new true crime documentary series that just landed called “Tiger King,” and it’s the perfect show to watch while you’re quarantined inside your home. The story mostly follows the self-proclaimed “Tiger King,” also known as Joe Exotic. Exotic (as well as the other exotic animal owners featured in the series) has a nemesis, and her name is Carole Baskin, who owns the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida. He hates Baskin more than anything in the world, and won’t stop at anything until he sees her destroyed. Let us know what you think of “Tiger King” in the comments once you’ve finished.
