Backpacking with Brooke: Barneyโs Wall and the Cascades
Read full article: Backpacking with Brooke: Barneyโs Wall and the CascadesPEMBROKE, Va. โ Barneyโs Wall and the Cascades is a 4 mile round trip hike that has mountain and waterfall views. Full disclaimer, if you donโt have four wheel drive, you probably wonโt make it up to this spot. Walk up the road a few yards then the sign for the trail is on your left. Not the cascades, but definitely a pretty part of Little Stony Creek. But we made it, and I would recommend this hike for sure, but maybe on a cooler day.

All trailheads, providing access to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, except Dragons Tooth and Spy Rock, reopened Friday, May 22nd. Other recreational sites, including Peters Mills Run will reopen on Thursday, May 28th. We know the importance of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests to communities and we want people to use and enjoy the forests again, says Job Timm, George Washington and Jefferson Forests Supervisor. We are working on phased plans to reopen sites and facilities, but protecting our visitors and employees remains our highest priority.
