ROANOKE, Va. โ Four people are vying to represent Democrats on Novemberโs ballot in the race for Virginiaโs 5th US House District. Dr. Cameron Webb, Claire Russo, RD Huffstetler and John Lesinski are running to represent Democrats in a district that contains either all, or parts of 23 counties and cities in the state, stretching from Northern Virginia, all the way to the state border with North Carolina. Earlier this month, Bob Good won the Republican convention in Lynchburg, defeating Rep. Denver Riggleman. Good admits to missing an election filing deadline by a few days; however, he claims he was within the grace period so his name being on Novembers ballot should not be an issue. Candidates set the stage for Virginiaโs 5th District congressional Democratic primary
HENRY COUNTY, Va. โ Four democrats will face off on June 23 in a primary for Virginiaโs 5th congressional district. The winner will face Republican Bob Good in Novemberโs general election. Policing and the fight for racial equality, broadband expansion to rural areas and health care top their list of importance. The candidates expect a smaller crowd at the polls due to more absentee ballot submissions in lieu of in-person voting. The Virginia Department of Elections expects to release an update polling location list next week.
