I dont think anyone who has not had it (the virus) quite understands how extraordinarily unpredictable it is, not just on a daily but almost an hourly basis, said the Tony Award-nominated British playwright (Plenty, Racing Demon, Skylight). Hare discussed Beat the Devil during an online news conference to promote Roadkill, a political thriller debuting in November on PBS Masterpiece showcase. An actor has been cast for the virus monologue, Hare said, but he declined to say who or name the theater where it will be staged. Hare received Academy Award nominations for his screenplays for 2002s The Hours with Nicole Kidman and 2008s "The Reader starring Kate Winslet, with both actors winning Oscars.

Earl Cameron, pioneering British film actor, dies at 102

Cameron was cast in one of the starring roles in Pool of London, a 1951 crime noir movie that was the first British film to feature an interracial relationship. During the 1950s and 1960s, he supplemented his film work with frequent British TV roles, including two episodes of Doctor Who in 1966. Unless it was specified that this was a part for a Black actor, they would never consider a black actor for the part. I got mostly small parts, and that was extremely frustrating not just for me but for other Black actors. We had a very hard time getting worthwhile roles.In 1972, Cameron got to work alongside another Bahama-born actor who broke barriers for Black film actors.

NEW YORK - Ryan Murphy is adapting the Tony Award-nominated and LGBTQ-friendly musical "The Prom" for Netflix, with big names Meryl Streep, Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells set to star, Deadline reports. It is based on an original concept from Jack Viertel and a book by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin. According to the report, Streep and Corden will play Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman, playwrights bruising from their dud production about Eleanor Roosevelt. "The Prom" was nominated for seven Tony Awards this year, including best musical as well as lead actress in a musical nods for Beth Leavel and Caitlin Kinnunen, who starred as Dee Dee and Emma respectively. "The Prom" is targeted for a fall 2020 release and is part of Murphy's multi-year creative deal with Netflix and will.
