The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public regarding a rise in reports of scam calls claiming that individuals have “missed jury duty” and now owe money or face arrest.

Virginia State Police is warning the public of spoof calls that appear to come from Law Enforcement agencies claiming if they don’t pay an amount of money they will be arrested.

On Tuesday, Miyares announced that Virginia is joining a nationwide Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force.The force’s purpose is to investigate and take legal action against the telecommunications companies responsible for bringing a majority of foreign robocalls into the United States, according to the release.
