Since the tragedy, numerous communities and schools across the Upper Peninsula have rallied to raise money.

In addition to delicious pasties, smoked whitefish, beautiful acreage, waterfalls and coastline, the U.P. does golf better than anyone else in the state.

The town along Lake Huron actually has quite a bit to offer someone who wants to spend a day or two there.

The Great Lakes might be home to the world’s most abundant supply of freshwater whitefish, and to many, that treat tastes even better when it is smoked to give it even more flavor.

Traditionally, the only way to get to that island was by taking a row boat, a novelty that many tourists enjoyed.

U.S. wildlife officials have agreed to craft a new habitat plan for the rare, snow-loving Canada lynx that could include more land in Colorado and other western states where they would be protected.

Some parts of the Northern Great Lakes region were greeted by their first significant snowfall of the season earlier this week, but not even the arrival of the fluffy white stuff could mask these historic times for the Great Lakes themselves.

Most of us have probably been on a road trip and had to wash splattered bugs off the car's windshield, but we bet you've never seen this many bugs hit a windshield at once. A woman posted a video on Facebook of her driving in Michigan's Upper Peninsula when a swarm of bugs hit her windshield. There are so many bugs landing at once that it almost sounds like she's driving through a wild rain or hail storm. Of course, the internet can really deliver when it comes to gross content, but ... imagine if this were you driving. We just hope she's got lots of windshield wiper fluid handy.
