With the cold weather here to stay, the Hope Center is ready to help families in need stay warm.

ROANOKE, Va. – A food drive in northwest Roanoke Saturday afternoon encouraged people to pay their goods forward to those who may need it. Roanoke Mutual Aid hosted the food drive to replenish the Hope Center’s pantry. The organization also accepted essential items such as laundry supplies and sanitary goods. “Help us help each other,” said Leroy Taylor of The Hope Center. “It’s the community giving to the community, which is a little more special than getting something from a major chain.

The Pittsylvania/Danville Health District is holding a COVID-19 testing clinic today. You can get a test between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Frith Fine Arts Center at Averett University. Roanoke Mutual Aid is holding a food drive today. It’s unveiling a Mobile STEM Center today, allowing the Girl Scouts to take STEM Opportunities to communities throughout the region. The Virginia Department of Health holds a COVID-19 vaccine clinic today.
