A 75-year-old man was found dead in the water near Beech Drive in Union Hall after being reported missing Wednesday evening, authorities said.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the drowning appears to be from an accidental fall, but will continue to investigate.

UNION HALL, VA. – Strong-to-severe storms rolled across the region Monday morning and afternoon, and one neighborhood on Smith Mountain Lake in Union Hall saw some isolated damage. “All of a sudden, there was a big ‘whoosh’ and a ‘bang’ and then we started turning on lights around the place,” Blackburn said. A particularly strong cell of storms rolled through, wreaking havoc on an isolated area of the lake. He and his neighbors also saw some damage, including a massive tree that toppled between his house and a neighbors house. “I found my grill across the street in at my other neighbors house, so it was an interesting night,” Martin said.

UNION HALL, Va. – U.S. Marshals and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were near Union Hall Saturday afternoon. We reached out to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office who said there was no sighting of Brown in the county. A sheriff’s office spokesman, however, would not answer 10 News’ question if the search was in connection to Brown. Marshals office for more information.
