Tornado watch for southwest, central Virginia canceled

ROANOKE, Va. – After a Friday of severe weather, the National Weather Service has canceled its tornado watch for southwest and central Virginia.

The watch was initially issued at 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

During the course of the day, while some counties were dropped from the watch, it was extended until 8 p.m. for other places.

Shortly after 7:15 p.m., the NWS canceled the watch for the region earlier than its scheduled 8 p.m. expiration.
