Renovations to start this fall on Roanoke County Department of Social Services
Salem (VA) - Much needed renovations to the Roanoke County Department of Social Services will soon get underway after months of delay.
Director Joyce Earl says work should start within the next few months.
Money for the project had been awarded over a year ago, but work has yet to begin.
Multiple cell signal receivers located on the roof are the reason behind the delay. The County has been working with providers to figure out what to do with those receivers while the roof is being repaired. A solution was recently discovered and Earl says the process can now move forward.
When the project is complete, the department will have 25% more space.
Earl says the additional room will greatly improve customer experience for the 12,000 people that utilize services each year.
