Blacksburg creates plans to expand Huckleberry Trail

BLACKSBURG (WSLS) - The town of Blacksburg is once again working to expand the Huckleberry Trail.

Plans were proposed this week to purchase land on Sheffield Drive in the Hethwood area to create additional trail space and a town park.  

This comes as the result of $70,000 in grant money and contributions from the Hethwood Foundation and Friends of the Huckleberry organization. 

The long-term goal is to use this land for a bridge that will go over Prices Fork Road and connect to the Huckleberry Trail. 

Town leaders expect the plan will gain final approval next month.
