The Salem Civic Center was full of excitement.

"It's really nice. It's really exciting. It's good to get out and see all the local horse people," Michelle Rose a spectator said.

People who work in the Rodeo say about 200 people from across the United States and Canada participate, including 19-year-old bull rider Caleb Corvin.

"I started riding at an early age. I was a little kid just riding bulls," he said.

Corvin got into bull riding when he watched other cowboys on TV

"I started out on a tractor I got on the tractor and I would jump off while my buddy was driving' and jump on the back of a bull. People think I'm crazy. That's what you'll do, when do you what you love," Corvin said.

Corvin trains nearly year round to make sure he can handle 2000 pounds of pure muscle.

"You really never stop. You got to stay in shape. You can't just let go for a year and then expect to do something spectacular. I took a break for a while. You still got to work out cause its all in the legs and the arms cause you got to work on your balance, " Corvin said.

Kevin Debusk is with the Stampede Rodeo and has seen Corvin bull ride.

He said Corvin had passion, something he hopes other young talent will have if they want to participate.

"Its nice to see a young man like that have that passion. He's your hometown boy which really makes it exciting," DeBusk said.

Corvin didn't compete well this year, but is already looking forward to training for next year's rodeo.
