(WSLS 10) - In What's News Today - Runners will take their mark for the Blue Ridge Marathon. You can come out and cheer the runners along as they run america's toughest road marathon. Before and after the race head to Elmwood Park for the Down By Downtown Music Festival. March Fourth takes the stage Friday night at 7 with Big Head Todd and the Monsters performing Saturday at 6:30.

The Color Run debuts its Shine Tour in Salem this weekend. It's a run where you start clean and finished plastered in color. This year it features an all-new Sparkle Zone as well as opportunities for colorful photos along the course. The run starts at 9 on Saturday from the Salem Civic Center. Registration for individuals is $49.50.

Liberty Christian Academy hosts the Region 2000 Junior First Lego League Expo. It's a chance for kids between the ages of six and eight to show off their lego creations that explore science and technology. It takes place at the school from 9 a.m. to noon.

If you're a fan of The Walking Dead, head to Lynchburg this weekend for a fan convention. Stars from the show Noel G and Anthony Guajardo and other make guest appearances. The event run Friday through Sunday at the Kirkley Hotel.

It's a sign that spring is here as kites take to the sky at the Blue Ridge Kite Festival. Enjoy the views of the kites in flight, as well as arts, crafts and food. It takes place at Roanoke County's Green Hill Park Saturday from ten to four.
