HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police are investigating human remains found in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Hampton.

State police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya says a trooper discovered the remains on Saturday after stopping a car on Interstate 64 because the license plates were expired.

Anaya said Wednesday that the driver, 44-year-old Tonya M. Slaton, is being held without bond at the City of Hampton Jail on a charge of concealment of a dead body.

The remains were sent to the medical examiner's office for identification and an autopsy.
