) - KSNT Reporter Katya Leick tried hard to work on her story in Fort Riley on Tuesday, but the cicadas around her caused some complications.

After a 17-year slumber, the sights and sounds of the creepy-crawly cicada are back. It has been more than a decade, and these creatures have awakened from their deep beauty sleep.

The last time these noisy bugs were out, Bill Clinton was president, and "Titanic" won the award for best Academy Picture.

It has only been a few weeks, and some can't wait for the red-eyed bug to take another dirt nap.

Some are happy to see the critters flying around, but we doubt Kataya Leick is one of them.

Experts say there is no reason to be afraid of them. They don't harm people, and will only cause minor damage to branches. As you can see from the video, they are a pain for some news reporters, too.
