Patrick County police complete largest marijuana bust in VA history

PATRICK SPRINGS (WSLS 10) - Police in Patrick County wrap up what they are calling the largest outdoor marijuana seizure in Virginia's history.

Patrick County sheriff's deputies, with the help of state police and ATF agents, removed 30,255 pot plants from the top of Bull Mountain.

This is worth an estimated $30 million or more.

No arrests have been made yet, but police say they are optimistic there will be charges pressed soon. They also believe this is a Mexican grow, which would mark the third time in the last ten years police have busted a Mexican drug cartel operation in Patrick County.

Officers worked on this operation for nearly two years before going in for the bust this week.
