ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Blacksburg toy store is expanding to the Star City.

The owners of Imaginations Toy and Furniture will soon open a location called Imagination Station in Roanoke. It may sound familiar to some as a store of the same name was once open, although under different ownership, in Grandin Village more than a decade ago.

Grandin Village will once again be home to Imagination Station, said Toy Lady and Imaginations owner Paula Bolte. Bolte purchased her current store, located on in South Main Street in Blacksburg, 18 years ago.

"We just thought it was time to open back up (in Roanoke) again," Bolte said.

Bolte said a large part of opening in the Grandin area was the support she received from the Grandin Business Association.

"We went to a meeting and we already have a bunch of cheerleaders down there for us already."

Imagination Station, Bolte's second location will open at 1405 Grandin Road. Like Imaginations in Blacksburg, the second location will offer various toys and items not always offered in mass market stores.

Bolte says the focus is on creative play.

"It's about blocks. It's about wooden train set. It's games and puzzles and it's not screen time. It's creative imaginative time where families can be together and play and just fun."

Imagination's customers can almost always be found playing with toys in and around the store. Play is always encouraged.

So-called toy experts are always there to offer help, often understanding and quickly locating toys kids of all ages come describing in short detail.

Imagination Station is expected to open in early September.
