RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Lottery says it is staying in downtown Richmond.

The Lottery announced Tuesday that it will move its headquarters into state-owned space at Main Street Centre.

The Lottery says in a news release that Gov. Terry McAuliffe's administration worked with the Virginia Department of General Services to make the space available for it. Main Street Centre has both state and private tenants.

Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto says remaining in state-owned space will help the agency keep its operating costs low.

The Lottery was notified in March that it would have to leave the Pocahontas Building as part of the Capitol Square renovation project. At the time, there wasn't enough available state-owned office space for the Lottery in downtown Richmond.
