ELLISTON (WSLS 10) - A haunted house in Montgomery County is causing some controversy with those who live nearby. This year, Gallows Haunted Attraction moved to a new, more spacious location. It's located near a residential area. Organizers said it's an agri-tourism operation which mainly operates as a farm. However, they also have a haunted house during the Halloween season.

The scary sights and sounds aren't sitting well with neighbors. Some people have expressed concerns about traffic and noise problems

"You can hear the screaming and the chainsaws," said Kevin Smith, Elliston resident.

Since Gallows Haunted House moved to its new location, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said they received complaints about backups along 603. County leaders have worked with event organizers to address concerns.

"It's just with anything, working out the kinks and to get things running smoothly," Brittany Brewer, house manager for the haunted attraction.

Residents said they don't want to ruin the Halloween spirit, they just want to keep their neighborhood calm. Staff with Gallows Haunted Attraction say they have taken steps to improve traffic flow and limit noise from the event.
