Blacksburg pet store to open second location

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - A local pet store defied the odds to help more four-legged friends and their owners in the New River Valley.

Kibbles on Main is preparing to open a new store in downtown Radford.

The pet supply store first opened on North Main Street in Blacksburg back in 2010.

Although competition is stiff against big box stores and online retail, the mom and pop business is thriving. Owners say this is thanks to low prices on high end pet food and accessories.

"Definitely makes us feel great," said owner Dennis Price. "We recognized a niche in the market and I think we've taken advantage of it."

The new store will open on Main Street in Radford next month and it will likely add several new jobs.
