ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Dr. Dan Lyons, former Lexington City Public Schools superintendent, will lead Northside High School as the interim principal for the remainder of the school year.
Dr. Lyons served as the superintendent in Lexington from 2002 until his retirement in 2015. Before he became superintendent, he was the principal at Lylburn Downing Middle School from 1997-2002.

He also served as assistant principal and athletic director at Rockbridge County High School and taught at Lexington High School and at schools in Baltimore and Alabama.
Dr. Lyons holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola College and a master's degree and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.
Dr. Lyons will replace Frank Dent, who stepped down as principal on Friday, February 12 citing personal and family reasons.
