APPOMATTOX COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police say traffic from onlookers is a big issue in Appomattox County following the EF3 tornado.
To clear access to roadways for emergency crews, residents, and volunteer organizations, VSP troopers have set up checkpoints. Lt. David Cooper with the Virginia State Police says that starting Saturday, only those with special placards will be allowed in to the site. In order to receive those placards, a resident in that area will have to notify police.

"Our ultimate concern is the safety and security of the people here. We want to make sure that they feel comfortable with their property and their belongings and that reputable people, friends and family are coming to help them out," Cooper said.
Volunteers have to be properly vetted through volunteer organizations to gain access to the site. No more individual volunteers will have access to the site.
