Dozens attended, including the families of Chase Prasnicki, a Rockbridge County native killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan in 2012 and Sergeant Michael Lalush, a Botetourt County soldier who died in Iraq back in 2003.

"As we lay this wreath today, we are ever-reminded of the men and women that have fought in every single war, battle, and conflict," Chairman Miller said.

Before the ceremony, members of congress toured the Salem VA Medical Center.

Local veterans participated in a roundtable discussion.
