ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke community members are now able to enjoy a newly renovated Huff Lane Park.

The city invested $350,000 in improvements including public restrooms, a picnic shelter and a children's playground.

The park's sports facilities were also upgraded.

City manager Chris Morrill said  the city started investing more in parks after the recession.

"During the recession, when things were tough, we couldn't invest in them a lot," said Morrill. "I think the city council decided that we really need to keep up what we had, and so investing in libraries and parks really makes a big difference, opportunities for people to come together, build those relationships for kids to be outdoors."

The park closed for about three years before the reopening.
